Those small rolls that appear while you rub a product over another can make an otherwise pleasant routine frustrating. The useful response is a controlled comparison, rather than immediately replacing every bottle.
First, identify what you are seeing
Product rolling on the surface and skin that is actually flaking are not the same shopping problem. If you have persistent peeling, discomfort or a rash, do not assume it is ordinary product pilling.
For surface rolling, note when it appears: after a serum, while applying moisturizer or when makeup goes over your daytime products. That observation helps you choose what to compare.
Change one optional layer
Start with your familiar basic routine and remove one optional cosmetic layer for the comparison. Keep the rest consistent. If you change the cleanser, serum, cream and makeup together, you lose the ability to identify the combination involved.
Write down the products and amounts you used. A short note can be more useful than trying to remember several mornings of slightly different routines.
Check the directions and amounts
More serum is not necessarily a better layer. Use the amounts specified for each product and allow it to settle as instructed before moving to the next step. Avoid repeated rubbing to force a combination to behave differently.
Do not solve a texture problem by underapplying sunscreen. Keep its labeled amount and application method, and reassess optional layers around it.
A shorter routine can clarify the issue

The goal is not a perfect sequence copied from someone else's shelf. It is a smaller set of products that feel comfortable together and work with the rest of your day.
